The Great Wood at Northaw is one of our favourite walking spots. There are three, well-signposted trails. And in the middle you will find picnic tables. There are toilets at the car park, and you need to take a £1 coin for the car park honesty box.

Map for Walk 56: The Great Wood, Northaw

This is the longest of three circular routes in The Great Wood, Northaw. The other two are the blue and red routes - all three are well signposted. The yellow route takes you on the widest sweep of the woods along permitted paths. You can do it clockwise or anti-clockwise - either way it's downhill to start until you reach Cuffley Brook and start climbing back up again. Quite a good workout that should take a fit walker less than an hour.
